Beginning your relationship with God

The way to begin any relationship is communication and it's the same way with God. The way we communicate with God is prayer. Prayer is simply talking to God. The Bible tells us that, "...for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." It's very difficult to pray knowing that deep down in our soul we have sinned (missed the mark of what God intended us to be). The bad news doesn't stop there! In the book of Romans it states that, "For the wages of sin is death..." We are not just going to die physically but spiritually! The apostle Paul continues in his writing, "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." That's the GOOD news!! Only through the sacrifice that Jesus gave on the cross can we receive eternal life (heaven - throughout all eternity)!
"So, what do I have to do?" That's a good question. Making the decision to change your life and turn from those things that are keeping you from an intimate relationship with the Lord is the first step. This is repentance. Not only is it important to ask God to forgive you of those things, but also with His help, endeavor to no longer do them.
"That's impossible!" It sure is, without God! I'm not saying you're never going to sin again, but this will put you in a personal relationship that give you direct access to the grace and mercy of God!

Repentance alone will not "save" you. It's just the beginning!! And you don't have to be at church to decide that from now on you're going to live God's way!
